Sponsored Content Policy

Kelowna Daily, published by Pacific Ridge Digital Media Inc. (BC Registry Services company number BC1487293) with registered office at Suite 800, 1055 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 3P3, is committed to transparent sponsored content practices. This policy explains how we label, manage, and distinguish sponsored material from our independent editorial reporting, ensuring readers can always identify the nature of what they are reading. Editor-in-Chief Catherine Roy oversees all publication decisions, including sponsored content guidelines.

What is sponsored content and how is it labelled?

Sponsored content on Kelowna Daily is material produced by or in collaboration with a commercial partner and paid for by that partner. It is clearly and prominently labelled with a “Sponsored” or “Sponsored by [Partner Name]” tag at the top of the page or article. The label appears before any content and is distinct from our regular editorial sections. Additionally, the page includes a brief disclosure explaining that the content has been paid for by the sponsor and is not produced by our newsroom. No sponsored material ever uses the byline of our editorial staff. All sponsorship arrangements are reviewed by Catherine Roy or the Managing Editor Marc Tremblay to ensure compliance with this policy.

How do we distinguish sponsored content from affiliate links?

Affiliate links are separate from sponsored content. When Kelowna Daily includes an affiliate link within an editorial article, we disclose it with a clear statement near the link or at the top of the page, as detailed in our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure. Sponsored content, by contrast, is a full piece of content paid for by an advertiser and labelled as such. Affiliate links generate a commission if a reader makes a purchase, but they do not influence editorial conclusions or article placement. Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead Andrew Leblanc verifies that no affiliate link is misrepresented as editorial endorsement.

What guarantees editorial independence?

Commercial relationships, including sponsored content and affiliate partnerships, never determine editorial conclusions. The editorial team, led by Editor-in-Chief Catherine Roy and Managing Editor Marc Tremblay, operates independently from the business side. No sponsor reviews or approves editorial content before publication. All news and feature articles are produced according to our Editorial Policy and undergo fact-checking by Andrew Leblanc. Sponsored content is clearly separated and not intermixed with news coverage. Our Ownership & Funding page provides further transparency on revenue sources.

How can I enquire about sponsored content?

Inquiries about sponsored content opportunities should be directed to the partnerships team at sponsored@kelownadaily.com. We also welcome general contact through our Contact page. All proposals are evaluated by the business team, and if accepted, the editorial team reviews the content to ensure it meets our labelling and disclosure standards. Sponsorship does not guarantee placement in any particular section or prominence.
