What official and primary sources do we use?
We rely on a core set of authoritative primary sources for factual information about British Columbia and Canada. Every story is anchored to at least one primary or official source, with all others listed as supporting material. Below are the key references we use daily:

Each story is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by the relevant section editor, and fact-checked by Andrew Leblanc or another member of the fact-checking team before publication. We use a standardised checklist that requires at least two independent sources for any factual claim, unless the information is from an official government record or a live press conference we attended. Our reporters attend Kelowna city council meetings, regional district sessions, and provincial legislature proceedings in person or via live stream. We also maintain a library of past coverage, government documents, and research reports to support long‑form investigative pieces. AI tools may support research, editing, formatting, translation, or headline generation, but every final piece is approved by a human editor. How can you challenge our reporting?
If you believe a story we have published contains an error, is misleading, or omits essential context, you may file a formal challenge or complaint. The process is straightforward: email our corrections address (corrections@kelownadaily.com) or use our general Contact page. You must include the article headline, the specific claim you are challenging, and supporting evidence (documents, links, recordings, or other verifiable sources). Our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead Andrew Leblanc will acknowledge receipt within two business days and will investigate within five business days. If the error is confirmed, a correction will be appended to the article with a clear note, and we will update the online version and any syndicated copy. Unsubstantiated or anonymous challenges may not be investigated, but we treat all good-faith submissions with seriousness.
